SDL-Ball SDL-Ball is a brick-breaking game with pretty graphics, for Linux, BSD and Windows. Download 3D BrickBlaster Unlimited latest version 2017. Computer games; computer game; brick breaker; brick. The 10 best FREE games for all your free time. It was conceptualized by and Steve Bristow, influenced by the Atari arcade game, and built by aided. The game was ported to multiple platforms and upgraded to video games such as Super Breakout. In addition, Breakout was the basis and inspiration for certain aspects of the personal computer. In the game, a layer of bricks lines the top third of the screen. A ball travels across the screen, bouncing off the top and side walls of the screen. When a brick is hit, the ball bounces away and the brick is destroyed. The player loses a turn when the ball touches the bottom of the screen. To prevent this from happening, the player has a movable paddle to bounce the ball upward, keeping it in play. Contents • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Gameplay [ ] Breakout begins with eight rows of bricks, with each two rows a different color. The color order from the bottom up is yellow, green, orange and red. Using a single ball, the player must knock down as many bricks as possible by using the walls and/or the paddle below to ricochet the ball against the bricks and eliminate them. If the player's paddle misses the ball's rebound, he or she will lose a turn. The player has three turns to try to clear two screens of bricks. Yellow bricks earn one point each, green bricks earn three points, orange bricks earn five points and the top-level red bricks score seven points each. The paddle shrinks to one-half its size after the ball has broken through the red row and hit the upper wall. Ball speed increases at specific intervals: after four hits, after twelve hits, and after making contact with the orange and red rows. The highest score achievable for one player is 896; this is done by eliminating two screens of bricks worth 448 points each. Once the second screen of bricks is destroyed, the ball in play harmlessly bounces off empty walls until the player relinquishes the game, as no additional screens are provided. However, a secret way to score beyond the 896 maximum is to play the game in two-player mode. If 'Player One' completes the first screen on his or her third and last ball, then immediately and deliberately allows the ball to 'drain', Player One's second screen is transferred to 'Player Two' as a third screen, allowing Player Two to score a maximum of 1,344 points if he is adept enough to keep the third ball in play that long. Once the third screen is eliminated, the game is over. History and development [ ] Breakout, a (non-) game, was designed by Nolan Bushnell, Steve Wozniak, and Steve Bristow, all three of whom were involved with Atari and its subsidiary. Atari produced innovative video games using the Pong hardware as a means of competition against companies making ' Pong clones'. Bushnell wanted to turn Pong into a single player game, where the player would use a paddle to maintain a ball that depletes a wall of bricks. Bushnell was certain the game would be popular, and he and Bristow partnered to produce a concept. Was assigned as the Breakout project manager, and began development with in 1975. ![]() Bushnell assigned to design a prototype. Jobs was offered 750, with an award for every TTL () chip fewer than 50. Jobs promised to complete a prototype within four days. Bushnell offered the bonus because he disliked how new Atari games required 150 to 170 chips; he knew that Jobs' friend, an employee of, had designed a version of Pong that used about 30 chips. Jobs had little specialized knowledge of circuit board design but knew Wozniak was capable of producing designs with a small number of chips. He convinced Wozniak to work with him, promising to split the fee evenly between them if Wozniak could minimize the number of chips. Wozniak had no sketches and instead interpreted the game from its description. To save parts, he had 'tricky little designs' difficult to understand for most engineers. Near the end of development, Wozniak considered moving the to the screen's top, but Jobs claimed Bushnell wanted it at the bottom; Wozniak was unaware of any truth to his claims. The original deadline was met after Wozniak worked at Atari four nights straight, doing some additional designs while at his day job at Hewlett-Packard. This equated to a bonus of $5,000, which Jobs kept secret from Wozniak. Wozniak has stated he only received payment of $350; he believed for years that Atari had promised $700 for a design using fewer than 50 chips, and $1000 for fewer than 40, stating in 1984 'We only got 700 bucks for it.' Wozniak was the engineer, and Jobs was the and tester. Wozniak's original design used 42 chips; the final, working breadboard he and Jobs delivered to Atari used 44, but Wozniak said, 'We were so tired we couldn't cut it down.' Atari was unable to use Wozniak's design. By designing the board with as few chips as possible, he made the design difficult to manufacture; it was too compact and complicated to be feasible with Atari's manufacturing methods. However, Wozniak claims Atari could not understand the design, and speculates 'maybe some engineer there was trying to make some kind of modification to it.' Atari ended up designing their own version for production, which contained about 100 TTL chips. Wozniak found the gameplay to be the same as his original creation, and could not find any differences. The uses a black and white. However, the monitor has strips of colored placed over it so that the bricks appear to be in color. Re-releases [ ]. Atari 2600 home version of Breakout and Sears TeleGames home version of Breakaway IV. The original arcade version of Breakout has been officially to several systems, such as, the (included in Super Breakout), and the. The port was programmed by Brad Stewart. Stewart had been working on a backup project for the Atari 2600, which was eventually canceled. Consequently, Brad and were both available to program Breakout for the Atari 2600. They decided to compete in the original version of Breakout for the programming rights. In the end, Brad won. In development, he didn't receive help of the original designers (and was unaware who they were), and felt that there were few obstacles to overcome. Difficulties arose with the. The game was published in 1978 and was conceptually the same, but with a few key differences. First, there were only six rows of bricks. Second, the player is given five turns to clear two walls instead of three. One notable addition was the Breakthru variant, where the ball does not bounce off of the bricks, but continues through them until it hits the wall. Had this term and used it as a sister term to Breakout in order to describe gameplay, especially in look-alike games and remakes. In 2010, the game was re-released in a Taco Bell promotion, in which a series of four classic Atari game CD-ROMs ( Centipede, Lunar Lander, Super Breakout and Asteroids) were given away in kids' meals, and were also available for purchase separately. Although the disc is titled Super Breakout, the game is a simulation of the original TTL Breakout, and also features an 'evolved' gameplay mode. Developed this series of games for the promotion. Super Breakout [ ] The success of the game resulted in the development of Super Breakout a couple of years later. It was released on 126 different machines. While ostensibly very similar to Breakout – the layout, sound, and general behavior of the game is identical – Super Breakout is a based game instead of discrete logic, programmed by programmer using an early chip. He developed Super Breakout after hearing that, founder of Atari, wanted Breakout updated. Super Breakout is featured in a number of different Atari compilation packs due to the relative ease of emulating its CPU-based hardware compared to the original game’s design. In Super Breakout, there are three different and more advanced game types from which the player can choose: • Double gives the player control of two bats at the same time—one placed above the other—and two balls. Losing a life occurs only when both balls go out of play, and points are doubled while the player is able to juggle both balls without losing either. • Cavity retains the single bat and ball of Breakout, but two other balls are enclosed on the other side of the wall, which the player must free before they, too, can be used to destroy additional bricks. Points are increased for this, but triple points are available if the player can keep all three balls in play. • Progressive also has the single bat and ball, but as the ball hits the paddle, the entire wall gradually advances downwards step by step, gaining in speed the longer the ball lasts in play. Other platforms [ ] of Video & Arcade Games in 1983 wondered why Atari chose Super Breakout as the for the when it did not use the console's improved graphics. The original had an where you could hold down the center button for a few seconds in the 'About' menu, and Breakout would appear. Released a licensed cellular phone version of Super Breakout that includes the original game as well as updated gameplay, skins, and modes. In 2008, Atari released the game for the and via Apple's. The arcade and Atari 2600 versions of Super Breakout were made available on 's service for its console and for on May 5, 2010 and September 1, 2010 respectively. Breakout 2000 [ ] There was also a reinvented Breakout 2000 game for the game console. The object of the game remains the same but in a 3D playfield. There are a total of ten different phases to survive, each consisting of five playfields. Each playfield is more difficult to clear than the prior one, and each phase adds more difficulty and features. The game features good and bad power-ups somewhat similar to. There are unbreakable bricks, multi-hit bricks and stacked bricks. Ball movement is limited to the lower level of stacked bricks, so breaking a lower brick allows the stacked bricks to fall into the now vacated location. The game also features a two-player mode that allows two people (or a person and the computer) to compete head to head. In this mode a player's ball can loop around to the other player's playfield and break the opponent's bricks. A double ″2X″ bonus is awarded for breaking the opponent's bricks. PC and PlayStation [ ] Breakout was once again updated for the PC and also for the. Developed by and published by 's subsidiary. This version featured an ongoing storyline. In it, the character of Bouncer must rescue Daisy and friends from the evil Batnix after he attacks their island. With advice of Steel, he travels to different lands to rescue his friends before Batnix takes over the world: • Tutorial - Bouncer must break out of Batnix's prison to rescue his friends. After that, he must outrun a. • - Against a backdrop of Egyptian desert sits a giant pyramid, its secrets hidden from view. Only total destruction will unlock all its treasures. Beneath the pyramid are secret tombs through which Bouncer must battle in order to reach the 's Lair where a final battle with a mummy will rescue his first friend. • - Bouncer must use his Breakout skills to defeat,, and to rescue his second friend. After that, he must outrun another wolf. • - A giant carries a captive into a majestic, towering medieval castle surrounded by a deep moat. A series of devious, puzzle-like levels must be negotiated before Bouncer battles the deranged robot to complete his mission. • - Bouncer launches a rocket into space in order to chase the evil Batnix and rescue Daisy. Bouncer must use his Breakout skills to deflect killer asteroids. Afterwards, he must face Batnix in a final showdown and rescue Daisy. Mobile [ ] In 2011 released and updated version of Breakout,. The game is similar to the original with the chief difference being the addition of improved graphics and expanded gameplay features such as power ups (Fire, Acid, Splitting, and Grenade Balls), unique brick types (Exploding, Mystery, x4, and Metal bricks), and Boost Control. The faster your ball goes, the more points you’ll get. Unofficial variations [ ] Many unofficial variations of Breakout were created for home computer platforms such as, and. A version of the game called Little Brick Out was included on the DOS 3.2 System Master disk for the Apple II. Disney Club Penguin also has a version of this game called Ice Bricks in mission 3, 'Case of the Missing Coins', with 10 levels. See also: Apple II [ ] Breakout directly influenced Wozniak's design for the computer. He said, 'A lot of features of the Apple II went in because I had designed Breakout for Atari. I had designed it in hardware. I wanted to write it in software now.' This included his design of color graphics circuitry, the addition of game paddle support and sound, and graphics commands in, with which he wrote Little Brick Out, a software clone of his own hardware game. Wozniak said in 1984: Basically, all the game features were put in just so I could show off the game I was familiar with—Breakout—at the. It was the most satisfying day of my life [when] I demonstrated Breakout—totally written in BASIC. It seemed like a huge step to me. After designing hardware arcade games, I knew that being able to program them in BASIC was going to change the world. Pilgrim in the Microworld [ ] Pilgrim in the Microworld is an by David Sudnow detailing his obsession with Breakout. Sudnow describes studying the game's mechanics, visiting the manufacturer in, and interviewing the programmers. Super Breakout story [ ] For, recorded a 7-in 33 1⁄ 3 RPM record telling the story of Super Breakout. This story dealt with astronaut Captain John Stewart Chang returning from a routine mission transporting from to space station New California. He encounters a rainbow barrier, presumably a force of nature, that seems to have no end on either side. He has three lobbing missiles of white light that he can bounce off the hull of his shuttle, and they prove able to break through the layers of the force field. With his life support systems failing, what follows is a test of endurance turned game as he strives to break through the barrier in space. As for Book Depository and a bit for my suggestion, just be warned they have bad inventory system. And often will claim to have items they don't. And while you will get a refund it might take a few days for them to figure out they don't have it in stock. EDIT: Recent experiences with Maelstrom, and the fact that it looks like they're going bankrupt brought me to remove the recommendation for them. You shouldn't expect free worldwide shipping. However flat rate shipping is the next best thing. Or any of the threads on amazon.de I've tagged I second the recommendation to check out Amazon.de. I've ordered from them twice and the shipping was a very reasonable 14 Euros, even for multiple games. Also, I've noticed that I was billed a cheaper price than advertised, which I assume is due to not paying VAT or something??? For example, I just ordered for 20.99 Euros, though it was advertised as 24.99 Euros. Of course, buying German editions of language dependant games would not be so successful. Its usual here that all prices include VAT and taxes when the shop is catering to the general public. For language games its not that bad. Usually nowadays game components are language independent to sell the same components worldwide, only the box and the rulebook are in a certain language. Rules in English, french etc. Are often included, if not You easily find them on the Geek. For the box being german well if that is a problem You shouldnt order from amazon.de. Maybe I am a bit thick but free worldwide shipping is an illusion. Any retailer must include shipping in his pricing. Or he finds a free method of shipping which is certainly not possible. So either he eats the cost (difficult long-term), averages it between customers (locals lose out, pacific island dwellers win) or just charges it. Amazon.de has in my mind one of the best combined deals shipping and pricing. And its easy to use (you just use Your local amazon account) and a respected retailer. Only problem is the choice in rare gamers games and in older games is limited. But You will get loads more to choose from than locally in Your country I assume even then. Would be my addition. I would describe them as terrible as well. Going to edit my prior post now and remove the recommendation. They certainly don't deserve it (and it looks like they're going bankrupt anyway). The trick is not to buy one game because there is a base shipping cost from the US postal service which inflates the cost of 1 game inc shipping, after the base cost is covered, it's based on weight and is cheaper per game. I use miniaturemarket.com in the US for some games that I can't get locally or are out of stock with no delivery date in Australia, for one game shipping is expensive per game, buy 3 games and it's reasonable per game, and they have an on-line calculator so you can model some game bundles to get the sweet spot for shipping costs. If I buy 3 games, it's the cost inc postage as local prices, but some games are hard to get locally, so unfortunately there is some business I can't give to my local gameshop. ![]() The original Mahjong game is originated in China around 2,000 years back and historians suggest that the game originated somewhere near Shanghai region. Mahjong is well known as a game that demands skills, patience and strategy. A connect and remove type game with Mahjong tiles. This unique game is addicting if you like either connect style games or mahjong. Mahjong Connect is the title of an online flash game, released a few years ago now, which was a resounding success on the net. Embodying the tradition. The game was exclusively played in China till the end of 18th century and then the game was adopted by its neighboring country, Japan. Due to this exclusivity and the restriction of Mahjong as a royal game, historians do not have a very clear picture about the evolution of the game. The game was brought to Western world at a very later stage and by that time even Chinese Mahjong had a lot of variations and original version was played at very few places. Similarly Mahjong Connect is also associated with the original game but has its own rules that make the game different from the original version, yet maintaining the characteristics of parent game. Traditionally, the game consists of 144 pieces which were made with ivory but after a global ban on the usage of ivory, there were no ivory tiles available. Those days, most of the famous Mahjong Connect tiles were made with other materials and based on price, the quality of these tiles could be higher or lower. A Mahjong Connect board consists of 140 tiles that are arranged in a certain shape. The classic arrangement is in such a manner that 10 tiles will be arranged vertically while 14 tiles will be arranged horizontally in each row. Compared to the traditional version of Mahjong, this game features almost all tiles from the full Mahjong set (Seasons, Dragon, Flowers etc.) In Mahjong Connect, the player's movements are limited and he has to make connects within this limited moves. ![]() ![]() ![]() If the player wants to eliminate a tile that is bordered with tiles on each side, he has to eliminate the adjoining tiles before eliminating the tile he is intending. The player can play with tiles only that are arranged on a perimeter. There are certain rules to follow while playing in this manner. The player can click on any matching tile that is placed on the same row and this helps in the advancement of the game. In other cases a player can connect tiles only if he can make the connecting move within 3 steps. A player can't connect tiles even if the tiles are placed very closer if it takes more than three moves to connect these tiles. If you are playing Mahjong Connect on a personal computer or any other electronic gaming device, usually, there will be a timer feature and in order to win the game, you should finish it within the given timeframe. Mahjong Connect quickly became a very popular game that can be played on any occasion. The game helps a person to improve his logical and reasoning skills as well as his thinking ability. Overview Mahjong Connect is a puzzle game, this game uses mahjong tile as puzzle. This game is challenging, and you could easily touch each 72 tile that are big and beautiful. Remember, the longer your dog goes without getting any one of their 10 different needs solved, the more that individual bar decreases. If a bar is getting dangerously low, a pop-up speech bubble notifies you of this. If you allow one of the 10 care status bars to completely run out, your dog is abruptly removed from your care, and it’s game over. However, if you take good care of all 10 needs, the General Status bar should be high enough at the end of the day to ensure you are successful. Tip: Give your dog at least two ‘helpings’ at a time at the beginning of the game. This should increase each bar sufficiently to give you plenty of time to attend to the other needs before having to go back to your first task. Note: The instructions in the ‘Help’ section of the game are written in grammatically-poor quality English, but they still provide a basic understanding of the controls and general objectives of the game. User Comments for Coffee Rush. • Machine: Genesis; • Manufacturer: Codemasters; Fantastic Dizzy boasts egg-ceptional cartoon graphics, egg-cellent game play, and egg-traordinary puzzles that will keep you busy for hours on end. Unofficially known as the Mario of Europe, Dizzy - whose various games have sold in egg-cess of three million units - is one shell of a guy. Dizzy's adventures take you across the land of Zakeria. A once peaceful kingdom, Zakeria's now controlled by the evil wizard Zaks. Dizzy must find his friends, save his girlfriend Daisy, and collect a potion to heal the leader of the Yolklolk, Grand Dizzy. It's big egg-venture! • Manufacturer: Codemasters • # of players: 1 • Difficulty: Moderate • Available: November 1993 • Theme: Action Dizzy's here and he's pretty upset. Daisy's been kidnapped by the evil Wizard Zacks, and Dizzy is the only one brave enough to save her. Now Dizzy must leave his home in the Yolkfolk Treehouse Village to start his quest. Beginning in Dizzy's own house, he has to find the key to get out. Once you're out, search everywhere for clues and items to help you along before you leave the village. This game is of the quest type, where you have to search everywhere to find the things you'll need to complete the game. Ready for a little NES scramble? Camerica's got the egg! Dizzy, champion of the Yolkfolk, is out to fry an evil egg- stealing magician, courtesy of Camerica's NES Game Enhancer. You may recall that ol' Diz is one of England's most popular video game characters. Dizzy the Adventurer crosses the Atlantic bundled with the Enhancer. Eggs-treme Romance Dizzy and Daisy are two young Yolkfolk in love. When Zak the Sorcerer puts Daisy under a sleeping spell, it sends Diz into shellshock. Now he must eggs-ecute Zak and give Daisy a wake-up call. Dizzy the Adventurer is a cartoony, side-view, multi-scrolling adventure game. As in previous Dizzy games, you travel around the countryside in search of various items that serve as keys to solving a passel of puzzles and predicaments. Dizzy is a good egg, so many of the problems he encounters have to do with helping other unfortunate characters, such as Leo the Lion, who has a thorn in his paw, and the Juggler, who's lost his balls. The game isn't organized by stages. You must traipse back and forth across a fantasy landscape that includes a tree- borne neighborhood, a cloud walkway, and two castles. ProTips: • From some ledges, you'll have to make a leap of faith to proceed in the game. • To reach the upper levels of the tree area, you must jump onto off-screen clouds. • Whenever you get close to the top of the screen, press A to jump up and look for hidden upper levels like this one. He Ain't Humpty Dumpty Dizzy the Adventurer is a hard-boiled puzzler. It's easy enough to find stuff (the countryside is littered with it), but what do you do with Pliers, a Trumpet, Cheese, Logs, an Empty Bucket, a Stick, and a Hole? That's what you have to figure out. ![]() However, deciding when and where to use those goodies will scramble your brains. Moreover, you can only hold three items at a time, so you must stash stuff in places where you won't forget about it. Free windows game remake of Dizzy by Crystal fusion. Original by Codemasters in 1986. Download and play! Dizzy's controls are simple and solid. He walks, jumps, and pulls his famous egg roll/forward somersault. Dizzy's no soft-shell hero, either. He takes a licking and keeps on ticking. Water, however, will poach him. Only Angels have Cheese. Un-egg-stravagant Looks and Listens Dizzy's a cute little egg with an award- winning smile. The rest of the graphics are uninspired, though nicely detailed and easy on the eyes. The conversation screens look good, but seeing them once is enough. The sounds are similarly un-egg- ceptional, but at least they're an easy earful. The music is mellow yellow and good for one listen. The effects are okay, though infrequent. Eggo-maniacal Action Dizzy the Adventurer is good, simple fun. Although this is a single-player game, straightforward controls mated to mind-stumping puzzles make it an entertaining game for a kid teamed up with an older player, or for a party of puzzle-solvers. Dizzy is a Grade A game that isn't over easy, and that's no folk. Never judge a video game by its cover! Although The Fantastic Adventures of Dizzy appears to be a simple, cute kiddie game starring an egg and all his YolkFolk friends, it's much tougher than it appears. The evil wizard, Zaks, has captured Dizzy's lady love, Daisy, and put a spell on all the eggs of Zakeria. Now it's Dizzy's duty to make a long, continuous trek (no designated levels) to find Zaks' Cloud Castle and put an end to his evil enchantment. Eggs-Tra Help Traveling through the colorful lands of Zakeria proves to be eggs-ceptionally tricky and dangerous. ![]() ![]() For instance, before he can get past the piranha-plant,Dizzy must first find the snappy Weed Killer. Luckily, necessary tools, such as the Weed Killer and energizing fruit, are plentiful. The best aspect of the game is figuring out where and how to use the items you find. Dizzy also receives clues and items from the local YolkFolk. ProTips: • To avoid getting scrambled by the wild animal west of your house, toss it a hunk of chicken as it charges at you. • Don't bother trying to grab the pick-axe until you've first conquered the Crystal Falls. The Diz also happens upon secret doorways lead to five game-within-a-game bonus rounds where he can earn eggs-tra lives. The sub-games include the Sliding Puzzle round, where Dizzy must work against the clock to un-scramble a puzzle; an Indiana Jones-style Mine Cart ride, and an eggs-xiting barrel ride down a raging river! Get Stoked with the Yolk Folk Humpty Dumpty would be proud. Dizzy's a surprisingly eggs-citing game. The graphics, sound, and game-play are above average, and the bonus areas are challenging. The Yolkfolk of Zakeria are ready to egg you on, get cracking! Fantastic Dizzy also know as The Fantastic Adventures of Dizzy. Fantastic Dizzy was the most technically-advanced of Dizzy's adventure games in many ways. It was the only one to feature actual scrolling rather than a flick-screen system, the only one not to be released for the 8 bit computers the character originated on, the only one to originate on a console, and the only one to feature pure arcade sub-games, such as a simple Operation Wolf clone and a runaway mine-cart section. Fantastic Dizzy gameplay involves walking Dizzy through the levels, picking up objects and using them to solve simple puzzles. There are plenty of tests of arcade skill along the way as well, as gaps must be jumped and baddies avoided - you have 3 lives to negotiate all this with. As well as aiming to rescue the beautiful Daisy, you are also aiming to collect as many stars as you can - there are at least 100 in each version. Travel through places like a haunter forest, a dragon's lair and Zaks' Tower. Meeting all kinds of weird and wonderful characters on the way, it's sure to be an exciting journey. Fantastic Dizzy features: • You play Dizzy the Egg • Go on a wild adventure through wonderful environments • All kinds of wacky high jinks • Make new friends and new enemies. The return of the most fantastic eggventurer of all time, with gorgeous HD graphics and glorious gameplay. Lead Dizzy on his ultimate quest to awaken Daisy and bring peace to the Yolkfolk. The eponymous egg-shaped have-a-go hero returns in familiar form, complete with red boxing gloves and his trademark rolls and somersaults as he ventures forth on an eggciting journey into a magical world packed with collect-and-solve puzzles. As ever, his friends, the Yolkfolk, are in trouble and need saving from danger. Our hero in a whole shell’s girlfriend, Daisy, has been trapped in mysterious castle while our hero has been locked in an underground dungeon by Rockwart the troll on orders from Evil Wizard Zaks. By running, rolling and somersaulting around the fantastic kingdom of Keldor, Dizzy’s adventure takes him throughout the magical land, exploring underground caves, leaping and bounding into the tree tops and bouncing all the way up in the far away clouds to assist Saint Peter in front of the Pearly Gates. Fall in love with Dizzy all over again, whilst helping him on his quest to rescue his beloved Daisy from the castle. Get set for eggsplosive and eggstraordinary eggventures once more! Created by DNA Dynamics Inc, with Paul Ranson, the original game’s project director heading up development, Dizzy: Prince of the Yolkfolk is published by Codemasters Software Co.
